I think the best way of describing Eat Y’Self Pretty’s new single ‘Like Rabbits’ wouldbe to liken it to a teenager who is struggling to come to terms with growing up. It’sbeautifully dark and moody, brimming with that low rumble of a troubled childhood while still kicking out that relaxed style that’s so accustom to the trouble free life. The reference to rabbits multiplying really fits in here too. I’m not normally too keen on having music play in the background while I work but on this occasion it just effortlessly fits into everything else that’s going. It doesn’t blareout of the speakers and suck everything back into it and nor does it hide away ashamed of how it sounds. It’s a perfect balance, beautifully written. It’ll kick you inthe face if you ignore it though. It’s a crying shame that the masses now see Indie music as all the same having lostanything unique and ‘individual’ about it. Thankfully, thanks to bands like Eat Y’Self Pretty and singles like ‘Like Rabbits’ our scene is starting to fight back. Their mix of Indie, Electronic and Alternative is simply genius of the highest order. It’s music like this that makes me thankful for the job I have. Here in Birmingham we have another Indie band we can be proud of. The 5 piece have been going since 2008 and it’s a bit of a travesty that only 78 people like their page on Facebook. If the band keep making music like this though then that figure issure to skyrocket at a pretty rapid pace. In short and simple terms, rating this five stars wouldn’t be high enough. Keep ‘em coming guys…
